Day 1

Our journey began in Hobart, landing at 10:00 in the morning.

We made a reservation at the stunning Frogmore Creek Winery for lunch, an 18-minute drive from Hobart, where we indulged in delicious dishes (the fresh oysters are to die for!) and stocked up on our favourite Riesling for the trip.

Post-lunch, we headed to Mt Wellington for the sunset, a 42-minute drive from the winery. Watching the sun dip below the horizon was a breathtaking start to our adventure. Afterward, we picked up groceries in Hobart and settled into our Kingston Beach accommodation.

Note: It can get very windy and cold at Mt Wellington, so make sure you are rugged up. It was 10 degrees the day we visited (we visited at the end of October), but it felt like -10 degrees due to the strong wind (wind chill) and its elevation.

Day 2

We set off at 4 AM for Cradle Mountain, approximately 4-hour and 15-min drive from Hobart. We arrived just before 8:30 AM and dove into our first hike: the Cradle Mountain Summit. This 5-6 hour trek was challenging but rewarding, with stunning views along the way. We set out from Dove Lake via Wombat Pool Lookout under a brilliantly sunny sky, but as any Tassie local will tell you, the weather there can shift in a heartbeat. By the time we reached Marion's Lookout , the sky had turned moody, clouds beginning to weave through the peaks.

The climb was probably one of the most challenging we've tackled. With fierce winds and a raw 4-degree chill that felt like -4, each step up the loose, shifting boulders tested our will. This isn’t a hike for the faint-hearted; in conditions like these, it’s essential to come prepared.

But despite the challenges, we kept pushing, and at the summit, whist the view wasn't perfect, the real reward was the surge of accomplishment, a shared victory that brought us even closer.

After the hike, we checked into our beautiful Mountain Cabin accomodation at Discovery Parks Cradle Mountain, where we stayed for the next three nights.

---

Day 3

An hour’s drive took us to Mount Murchison for another ambitious hike. This 5-6 hour trail offered dramatic landscapes, testing our endurance and leaving us with a sense of achievement.

---

Day 4

We devoted this day to exploring more of Cradle Mountain. There are few trails you can take but our highlight was the Ronnie Creek to Dove Lake loop, where we immersed ourselves in the serene beauty of the park. We ended the day watching the sunset over Dove Lake, a moment of pure tranquility.

---

Day 5

Leaving Cradle Mountain at 5 AM, we reached the Bay of Fires around 10:30 AM. The stunning coastal scenery was perfect for a relaxed day before continuing our 2-hour drive to Freycinet.

We arrived earlier than expected and seized the chance to hike Mt Amos for a sunset view. The rugged trail was challenging but worth it for the panoramic vistas at the summit! This is a must-do hike in the East Coast of Tassie!

---

Day 6

Ben started the day with a Mt Amos sunrise hike, soaking in the magical hues of the early morning glow. I, on the other hand, couldn't quite muster the energy to leave the comfort of bed—haha! That decision quickly turned into regret when I saw B's incredible photos.

The bay below was impossibly tranquil, and the sky painted a completely different palette of colors compared to the sunset we had witnessed the evening before. If you're even remotely a morning person, this hike is an absolute must. It’s the kind of experience that makes waking up early so worth it!

For accomodation, we stayed in a cute Airbnb in Bicheno area which is only about 30-40 minute drive to Freycinet NP.

---

Day 7

We left Bicheno for an early drive to Triabunna for a day trip to Maria Island. After boarding the ferry, we spent the day exploring the island's unique landscapes and wildlife, meeting some adorable furry friends on the trail!

We head back to Hobart, where we checked into the Ibis Hotel for our accommodation for the rest of our stay in Tassie.

---

Day 8

We set out early for a 6-hour hike to Cape Raoul, a 1-hour and 43-minute drive from Hobart. The dramatic cliffs and ocean views were unforgettable! Cape Raoul is probably one of the most stunning coastal walks we've visited to date!

In the evening, we relaxed and celebrated our last night in Tasmania with a nice dinner. If you love Southeast Asian cuisine, we highly recommend Mr Goodguy in Hobart.

---

Day 9

We wrapped up our Tasmanian adventure with a flight back to Brisbane at 10:50 AM, leaving with cherished memories and a desire to return.

This journey was a mix of challenging hikes, serene landscapes, and unforgettable moments—a perfect Tasmanian escape!
